In short
- Front Row collects nothing about you. No accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no crash reporting.
- Your audio is processed as it plays and is never recorded, saved or uploaded.
- The extension makes no network requests at all.
- What it remembers stays on your device: your settings for each site, and the results of recent Learn runs.
What it keeps on your device
Front Row remembers the sites you turn it on for, so it can apply your settings the next time you visit. That means the address of the site and the position of the five controls.
It also keeps the results of your recent Learn runs: the site, what it measured and the settings it chose. That is what lets a report you send us show what the tuning actually did.
Both are stored by your browser on this device. Neither is synced to your other devices, and neither is sent anywhere. Removing the extension removes them.
Your audio
The sound of whatever you are playing is processed as it plays, and it is gone once it has played. It is never recorded, never saved and never uploaded.
What the extension uses from a page is the video and audio players on it, and the speed you are playing them at. It takes nothing else.
It makes no network requests
Front Row does not contact the internet. Codonic runs no server for it to reach and no account for you to sign in to, and everything it needs, including the neural network that removes the noise, is inside the extension itself.
Chrome keeps your installed extensions up to date on its own. That is between you, your browser and Google, under Google’s terms.
The debug report
If something sounds wrong, About and then Copy debug report puts a summary on your clipboard: the version, the site you are on, your settings, what the engine measured, and your recent Learn results, including the sites they were made on.
It goes to your clipboard and nowhere else. It reaches us only if you choose to send it to us.
The permissions it asks for
Access to sites is what lets it work on whichever site your videos are on. Capturing a tab’s audio is a fallback for players that do not allow direct access to their sound. Storage keeps the settings and Learn results described above.
Third-party code
The noise reduction is RNNoise, an open source neural network by Xiph.Org and Jitsi. It is bundled inside the extension and runs on your own machine. The notices are published at /licences/front-row.txt.
Your rights
Privacy law in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, California and elsewhere gives you rights over personal data a company holds about you: to see it, correct it, delete it, take it elsewhere, and object to its use. It also gives you the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
We hold no personal data about you through Front Row Audio Enhancer, so there is nothing for us to hand over, correct or erase. What you create in the app stays under your control. We do not sell personal information.
If you have written to us by email, that correspondence is the one thing we do hold. Ask at dev@codonic.dev and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this same address with a new “last updated” date above. The address does not change.
