Who is responsible

Pad is made by Codonic, an independent software studio. If you have a question about anything on this page, write to dev@codonic.dev. For help with the app itself, support@codonic.dev is the faster address.

What Pad collects

Pad does not collect personal data, and it builds no profile of you.

What Pad transmits, and to where

Pad’s entire purpose is to move two things between two of your own devices: the picture of your screen, and the input from your stylus. Both travel directly from one of your devices to the other — over your local Wi-Fi network, over a USB cable, or over a direct device-to-device link with no router involved at all.

That traffic is not relayed through, stored by or accessible to us at any point.

The two devices only talk after you have paired them, and pairing issues a token to that specific device which you can revoke.

Where your settings are stored

Your preferences — pressure curve, smoothing, per-application profiles, quick keys, gesture assignments and the list of devices you have paired — are stored on the device itself.

On Apple platforms, if you are signed in, these settings may also sync between your own Macs and iPads through Apple’s own settings-sync mechanism, inside your personal Apple Account. That is Apple’s infrastructure, governed by Apple’s terms. We have no access to it and receive no copy.

Permissions the app asks for macOS and Windows host

Screen Recording, so the host can capture the display, window or region you choose to stream. Only what you select is captured.

Accessibility (macOS) or the equivalent input-injection permission (Windows), so the host can turn your stylus movements into real tablet and keyboard events. Without it, strokes do nothing.

These permissions are used solely to stream to, and accept input from, the tablet you have paired. Nothing captured is written to disk or sent anywhere else.

Permissions the app asks for iPadOS and Android client

Local network access, so the client can find and connect to your host computer. This is the only permission the client needs, and it is used only to reach your own machine.

Third parties

Pad shares no personal data with third parties. It makes no network request outside the direct connection to your own host computer.

Deleting your data

Removing a paired device from the list revokes its token immediately. Deleting the app removes its settings from that device.

You do not need to send us a deletion request, and we could not act on one, because we hold nothing about you.

Device backups

Your device’s own backup system — Apple’s on Apple devices, Google’s on Android — may include Pad’s settings, under the backup mechanism and encryption those companies provide. That arrangement is between you and them; we are not part of it.

Children

Pad is not directed at children, and it collects no data from anyone, of any age.

Your rights

Privacy law in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, California and elsewhere gives you rights over personal data a company holds about you: to see it, correct it, delete it, take it elsewhere, and object to its use. It also gives you the right to complain to your national data protection authority.

We hold no personal data about you through Pad, so there is nothing for us to hand over, correct or erase. What you create in the app stays under your control. We do not sell personal information.

If you have written to us by email, that correspondence is the one thing we do hold. Ask at dev@codonic.dev and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this same address with a new “last updated” date above. The address does not change.
